My Story – The Roots of Iyanola StrandZ

Iyanola StrandZ was born from both frustration and love.

When I moved to the U.S., I was full of excitement, but I quickly faced a challenge I didn’t expect: finding hair products that truly understood my hair. As a Caribbean woman raised on natural remedies and ancestral wisdom, I was used to using powerful herbs and oils like rosemary, clove, aloe, and neem—ingredients passed down through generations of women who treated hair not just as beauty but as identity and legacy.

But in my new environment, the shelves were filled with products that didn’t speak to me. Formulas were watered down, packed with chemicals, and completely disconnected from the textured, coily, and curly strands they claimed to support.

So, I did what many of us do, returned to my roots.

In my kitchen, I began creating hair oils and butters inspired by home traditions. Using Ayurvedic herbs, island-grown ingredients, and science-backed formulas, I crafted blends that nourished, healed, and revived my hair. Friends and family noticed the results and started asking for jars of their own.

That’s when Iyanola StrandZ became more than a personal solution.

It became a mission.

Named after Iyanola, the original name of Saint Lucia, my homeland, this brand is a tribute to our culture, our strength, and our hair journeys. Every product is made with intention—to promote real growth, restore moisture, and celebrate the natural beauty of Black hair in all its textures.

Iyanola StrandZ is more than hair care.

It’s restoration.

It’s reclamation.

It’s a return to the crown we’ve always worn.
